PhD-Level Computational Biologists

Gridnaut Recruiting seeks expert bioinformaticians for a Docker toolkit curation project with a leading AI lab. The role involves specifying bioinformatics tools needed for computational biology problems - not writing code or producing solutions.

Employment Type: Hourly (Contract)

Location: Remote (US-based applicants only)

Compensation: $60-$85/hour

Timeline: 2-week engagement starting upon onboarding; assignments distributed by domain expertise

Key Responsibilities:

• Review representative problems from assigned problem classes
• Understand data shapes and expected outputs
• Specify complete toolkits including Python/R packages and system tools
• Provide rationale for each tool selection

Required Qualifications:

• PhD or Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or related field
• Hands-on experience with at least 3 domains: protein structure analysis, variant effect prediction, RNA-seq/expression analysis, ChIP-seq/epigenomics, single-cell analysis, CRISPR screen analysis, molecular docking, or cheminformatics
• Deep familiarity with standard tools (Rosetta, FoldX, DESeq2, MAGeCK, AutoDock Vina, HOMER, scanpy)
• Python and/or R proficiency for bioinformatics workflows
• Command-line tool familiarity (samtools, BEDTools, BLAST)
• Strong opinions on tool selection before problem-solving begins
