What you'll do

Gridnaut Recruiting is hiring a remote Public Defenders — Paid Research Study contractor to support a leading AI lab. You will contribute domain expertise to model training, evaluation, and structured task review. Work is fully remote, hourly, and flexible.

Who we're looking for

Current or former public defenders with hands-on experience representing indigent clients in the United States
Able to describe the work personally performed and the jurisdiction and period practiced
Prior Mercor project experience is welcome but not required
Experience solely as a prosecutor, law student, legal-content annotator, or non-public-defense lawyer is insufficient

Compensation

Pay is $100/hr. Strong contributors may be promoted based on task quality and throughput.

Commitment

Flexible part-time hours, fully remote. Hourly contractor engagement.
